At the top of the list of my most anticipated albums for the rest of 2011 is New York power-pop quartet Big Troubles’ second album Romantic Comedy. “Sad Girls,” the ultra-catchy lead single from the record (with the best key change of 2011), now has a silly video to go with it. Watch the super ‘dorky’ video above and pick up the MP3 too. A light green/dark green 7″ is out now for “Sad Girls” from Slumberland, and Romantic Comedy will be out on September 27th.

I meant to post this song a long time ago, but I didn’t. Basically, Gauntlet Hair rocks, this song rocks, and the album this song’s gonna be on is gonna rock. Gauntlet Hair will be out October 18 on Dead Oceans.
Cleveland pop heroes Bears just released an update on their Kickstarter saying that they’re 75% of the way to accomplishing their goal, and that they got the masters back for the album adding that they’re the best songs they’ve ever recorded. So they put together a quick preview of five songs from the album, listen to them in the video above. Also, they still need a little over a thousand bucks to hit the goal in their Kickstarter, so go help them out!

Under The Radar recently premiered “Beside” from Bloomington, IN pop trio Sleeping Bag. This instantly-lovable pop jam appears on Sleeping Bag’s self-titled debut, which actually just released last Tuesday. Based on this and their earlier single “Slime,” which you can listen to below, the album is really shaping up to be one of the most enjoyable of the year. Stream the entire album on their Bandcamp, or go to Joyful Noise, where it’s available for order on blue and black vinyl, as well as the special official Sleeping Bag sleeping bag.

Listen to a new track and big 50′s bopper “Lampshade Talker” from Chicago lo-fi kids BIGCOLOUR, that’ll be making an appearance on their debut album. No date or title on the album yet, but keep an eye out as it’ll hopefully be out by the end of the year.

California pop label Slumberland has been hitting a homerun with me lately, from Pains’, Girls Names, Kids on a Crime Spree, the signing of Big Troubles, and now this. Gold-Bears is the pop project of former Plastic Mastery mastermind Jeremy Underwood, and by the looks of it, Gold-Bears is here to stay. “Record Store,” the opener on their debut Are You Falling In Love?, is a head-banging fuzz anthem that you’ll be belting out in your car, or at least I have. The album is available from Slumberland on pink/white swirl vinyl here.

As the weather in these summer months has been filled with sun-filled scorching days, Michigan reverb-pop group Swimsuit reminds us that “sunlight burns.” Check out the opener and closer off their self-titled debut that just recently got its release from Virginia label Speakertree Records, who previously released Cloud Nothings’ Turning On on vinyl. The “reverb-doused, surf-tinged, beautiful pop songs fighting with a hazy punk undercurrent” LP is available now on vinyl through Speakertree’s site, and is also streaming for a limited time on Speakertree’s BandCamp. I heavily recommend this album for any Beach Fossils fans out there, or pretty much anyone who enjoys a quick, fun summer album.

Before you stop visiting my site because of that joke, check out these songs from the Lafayette, IN power-pop trio’s debut album. I heavily recommend it for those who have been digging Cloud Nothings’ album this year, just clean and fun garage-pop. It’s out now on Hozac, and they might still be on the gold edition, so head over to their store and buy it!

The first pressing of the collaborative album between the Akron husband-and-wife ambient-pop duo Trouble Books and Cleveland guitar-celeb Mark McGuire of 250 copies went extremely fast. So don’t miss out on the second pressing on transparent orange vinyl, which is up now for preorder at the Bark & Hiss store. And if you want my opinion, this is one of the best albums of the year, if not the best. If you haven’t heard it yet, listen to the second track on the album, “”Song for Reinier Lucassen’s Sphinx,” below. And listen to the Altered Zones premiered track “The Golden Waste.”

Chicago avant-poppers A Lull released their highly anticipated debut album Confetti a couple weeks ago. Most likely you’ve heard the older mixes for “Weapons For War,” “Spread It All Around,” and more recently “Mammals,” but here’s the newest taste with the crazy-melodic “Water & Beasts.” Also, the boys are shooting a video for “Some Love” as we speak so keep a look out for that. Confetti is out on Mush Records in the US and Something In Construction in Europe, and you can pick up the vinyl right here.
