I know that most if not all of my readers have already heard both of these tracks, but I’m loving them so much that I had to devote a post to them. Both “Still Sound” and “New Beat” are groovilicious pop songs dripping with heavy funk and disco and a touch of late 80s hip-hop, and they’re making me way too excited for Underneath The Pine. Based on the first two months, Carpark is set to have a nice 2011. And watch the analog video for “Still Sound” below.

I do a radio show at my school, and the main station room has probably thousands of records on the wall. I’ve looked through and found gems such as Styx’s “Crystal Ball” 12″ single, and the Pele movie soundtrack. When I was finishing up my show the other day, I saw this record sitting on the shelf. I had known about Meco’s Star Wars disco album, and I was praying that this would be disco as well. My wishes came too.

I’m happy to say that this is my first international artist submission, and it’s from Indonesia! On their band camp download site, the description reads, “This is a concept album inspired by crime movie and novel as well as adventurous-mistery kinda stories.” The crime movie inspiration definitely fits, as this could be taken for a 1970′s secret agent super-funky movie soundtrack.
