Vacations was born out of the ashes of Chicago band Chin Up Chin Up, with all three members moving to the new project. I always say this, but the band name gives a pretty good idea of what the music sounds like. Put together a mandolin (or ukulele), bongos, vibes, and some fun spirit, and you get Vacations’ album! Don’t be surprised if you’re craving a piña colada after a listen. I really liked the way Vacations released this album, in a quite unique way. They put it up for “pay-what-you-want” download which is pretty awesome of the band. I did this option, but I wish I would have done the second. Their other way was to release this full-length as a 7″. They put five songs from this record on the 7″, and then included a download code for all 13 songs with the 7″. That is fucking cool. Not only is it trying something new, but I’m sure it is quite cheaper for both parties. HERE is the link for the “pay-what-you-want”, and HERE is the link for the 7″. If you like this music, its not too hard to throw them a few dollars you have lying around. DO IT.
