STREAM: || “New Beat” ||

I know that most if not all of my readers have already heard both of these tracks, but I’m loving them so much that I had to devote a post to them. Both “Still Sound” and “New Beat” are groovilicious pop songs dripping with heavy funk and disco and a touch of late 80s hip-hop, and they’re making me way too excited for Underneath The Pine. Based on the first two months, Carpark is set to have a nice 2011. And watch the analog video for “Still Sound” below.

Toro Y Moi/Cloud Nothings Tour Dates and Split 7″

Carpark seems to be riding on their two best bands at full speed, as they should be. With new Cloud Nothings and Toro Y Moi albums on the horizon, they will be touring together and putting out a split 7″, with new songs from each band. Toro Y Moi’s “I Will Talk To You” will be taking the A-side, with Cloud Nothings’ “For No Reason” will hit the B-side. Their dates together are throughout March, and you can pick up the 7″ at any of those shows. For those less fortunate to make these shows, the 7″ will be available March 29th. Toro Y Moi – Causers Of This

01. Blessa
02. Minors
03. Imprint After
04. Lissoms
05. Fax Shadow
06. Thanks Vision
07. Freak Love
08. Talamak
09. You Hid

11. Causers of This

Even though “chillwave” was born, lived, and died in the 2009, Toro Y Moi is trying reignite it in 2010. After the Hipster Runoff post on Toro Y Moi, I was a bit reluctant to listen to this. I quickly got over that and have been listening to “Blessa” non-stop. The electronics reminded me of Nosaj Thing’s beats, with that nice touch of pretty psych-pop. The rest doesn’t disappoint either, with the falsetto-ish “Imprint After” and the dancey “Thanks Vision”. Toro Y Moi will be at SXSW, and then will be on tour for a straight month after all over the US. Keep the shitty genre “chillwave” alive and download this.
