I just realized in the past few hours that I have a huge weakness for 7″ singles and such, I had to get another one. I’ve been listening to SVIIB quite a lot over the past few weeks so I was pretty pumped to get the B-side “Caldo”. First off, “Half Asleep” is pure bliss, no more needs to be said. “Caldo” is actually a step away from what I was expecting. Rather than rely on electronics for background haze and dreamy soundscapes, SVIIB turns to acoustics which makes for a pleasant surprise. The harmonies are still there thank god.

Remember when Coors Light basically said that twins make everything better? Well…they were completely right. School of Seven Bells is made up of Benjamin Curtis, and twins Alejandra and Claudia Dehez, who’s voices basically make this album. The biggest accomplishment of this album is the fact that every song sounds beautiful. Opening track, “Iamundernodisguise”, is a hazy tribal percussive beat with incredible harmonizing vocals. Following songs, “Face To Face On High Places” and “Half Asleep”, are my personal favorites with their blissful layers and flawless vocals. Alejandra and Claudia’s harmonies show up on about every track, like I said, they are the reason this album is so good. The only thing better than the music might be the album art.

P.S. SVIIB are releasing a deluxe edition of Alpinisms and I included the one bonus track I have, an alternate version of “Iamundernodisguise”.
