A good friend of mine, Dylan, sent these jams to me. I knew him from being a guitarist for garage-outfit Ponyta, but it turns out he’s also in this lo-fi noise-pop band Neon Tongues. “Big Kids” is about as lo-fi as you can get, and it sounds great. “Painted Brain” is much more clear and up-beat, with a chorus that you can definitely sing-along to! I think the greatest thing about these songs is the way they released them…on tape only. In a time where almost every type of physical media is a dead format, Neon Tongues go all the way. Limited to just 20 cassettes, 10 red and 10 yellow, these guys are definitely doing it right. You can pick up your copy from Scotch Tapes.
