Memory Tapes is the main project of Dayve Hawk, a guy with innovative and incredible talent. Seek Magic is aimed towards a pop-heavy sound, and Hawk utilizes heavy synth lines to get that tone across. Every song pushes out a different fresh sound, from hazy pop (“Swimming Field”), to psychedelic grooves (“Green Knight”), to house dance (“Graphics”). From what I’ve been hearing, this goes under the newly created genre of “chillwave”. All I can say about “chillwave” is that I would like more of it. Also, you’re welcome for the 22-minute bonus track “Treeship”.
