Chicago avant-poppers A Lull released their highly anticipated debut album Confetti a couple weeks ago. Most likely you’ve heard the older mixes for “Weapons For War,” “Spread It All Around,” and more recently “Mammals,” but here’s the newest taste with the crazy-melodic “Water & Beasts.” Also, the boys are shooting a video for “Some Love” as we speak so keep a look out for that. Confetti is out on Mush Records in the US and Something In Construction in Europe, and you can pick up the vinyl right here.
Chicago art-poppers A Lull are right on track to be a big breakout for 2011. After their fantastic “Weapons For War”/”Spread It All Around” 7″ from last year, the band sought out for a label to release their highly anticipated record, Confetti. They found a home in California’s Mush Records, who will be releasing the hour-long debut on April 12. Right now you can enjoy a rough unmastered cut of “Mammals,” the second track from Confetti, along with a Houses remix of “Weapons For War,” courtesy of XLR8R. Based on the the three tracks that I’ve heard from the album, Confetti is going to be huge.

Back in March, I highly recommend the Weapons For War/Spread It All Around 7″ from the Chicago art-rockers A Lull. Since then, they have appeared on Stereogum, Pitchfork, I Guess I’m Floating, and Indie Music Filter. Keep these guys fresh in my head, cause when they drop their full-length Confetti, it’s going to drop big! To hold you over, here’s a bunch of sweet remixes of the drum-heavy, merry-go-round pop anthem “Weapons For War.” And just a reminder, you can pick up that 7″ from them for $8 (w/ shipping)!
A Lull is a Chicago-based indie pop/art-rock band that came to me through one of my good friends, who happens to be in one of my favorite Indiana bands! Aaron Vincel, front man of mathy indie-rockers Snakeosaurus Rex, plays drums/percussion for A Lull, and has been on tour with them non-stop for the past month. “Weapons For War” and “Spread It All Around” are the first two released songs by A Lull from their upcoming debut LP, Confetti, which is already summing up to be something special. “Weapons for War” is a grand pop anthem filled with a soft, appealing core, spilling with an orgy of drums. The b-side, “Spread It All Around”, plays on the same formula, but moreover relies on an atmosphere of driving drum beats and nice/obscure play-around vocals. This is highly recommend for you art-rock or abstract pop lovers. You can pre-order the “Weapons For War” 7″ from their Website, and check out their Myspace for some Midwest dates in April.
