I had seen all the trailers and stills for the upcoming children’s book-to-movie adaption of Where The Wild Things Are, and I got super super excited for this charming movie. Then it was announced that Karen O, from Yeah Yeah Yeahs, would compose the movie soundtrack. And I thought I couldn’t get more excited. Karen O is accompanied on this soundtrack by “the Kids”, and they compose of members from Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Deerhunter, The Dead Weather, The Raconteurs and a kid’s choir. The greatest thing about this soundtrack is how it doesn’t actually feel like a soundtrack. The songs are written and composed in a very cohesive manner, making it feel much more like an album. Karen O, known for her crazy artsy persona in YYYs, shows her bare-bones side on the soundtrack, giving it a really calm tone. The album as a whole is a very pleasant experience, and gives more a reason to see this movie.
(Thanks to Shock Mountain for finding this one. <3 those guys.)
P.S. 100th Post!!! Yeah!

this is like my all time favourite book, glad that its made into a movie now. i even have a fanpage for it=D
My girlfriend totally knew it was Karen O when we heard it. I think that the choice of bands if further evidence for the movie’s aim to target a slightly older audience.
